One of the more noticeable changes in the Windows 11 Beta is a streamlined home page. The new interface emphasizes recent searches over multiple recommendation panels, providing a cleaner, more intuitive start. This more pared-back design is closer to what users have been requesting since the launch of Windows 11.
Microsoft has also improved how results are displayed. Search now clearly labels whether a result is an app, file, setting, or web result before users click on it. This added clarity reduces confusion and helps users find what they need more efficiently.
Another key improvement is the exclusion of promotional content from web results. Search now ranks the most relevant answer first, rather than sponsored suggestions or product listings. It makes the experience less commercial and more practical.
The Windows 11 Beta update also introduces greater user control. A new option in Settings > Privacy & Security > Search allows users to limit or disable web results and Microsoft Store suggestions. This gives users the flexibility to focus on local content if they prefer.
Also, Microsoft has improved search accuracy. It’s now better at handling misspellings, partial queries, and incomplete app names, so you don’t have to be so precise to find what you’re looking for. Local files / apps / settings are also given priority if they are the best match.
