Apple has announced its new M6 Mac Mini, but shoppers already have a reason to look beyond the Apple Store. The newly announced desktop is seeing its first discounts as Amazon knocked up to $29 off certain configurations in time for the official September 22 launch.
The base model M6 Mac Mini with 16GB unified memory and 256GB SSD storage is now priced at $879.99 on Amazon, down from its initial price of $899. The 16GB/512GB model is also seeing a larger $29 discount, now priced at $1,069.99 instead of $1,099.
They’re pre-order discounts, not discounts on an older model, and that makes them notable for those who were already planning to buy Apple’s newest small desktop. Amazon’s pricing is variable though, so the discounts listed here might not necessarily hold through launch day.

Apple announced the M6 Mac Mini (and the higher-performance M5 Pro Mac Mini) on August 25. The M6 model offers up to 40% faster CPU performance, and graphics and storage performance can be twice that of the previous-generation M4 model, the company says. Apple is also trumpeting AI performance improvements of up to four times faster.
The new desktop also has updated connectivity including Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, while a faster 2.5Gb Ethernet connection is included with a 10Gb Ethernet option available. Apple is marketing the machine not only as a compact daily computer but also as a powerful system for increasingly demanding AI workloads.
M6 Mac Mini is expected to launch on September 22nd. In the meantime, Amazon’s early pricing gives shoppers the opportunity to secure Apple’s newest Mac mini ahead of its release, and lock in a slightly lower price.
